It’s that time of year… sleigh bells ring… are you listening? Yes, December is here and with it comes something new to this site – Blogmas! For those of you who may not have heard of Blogmas before, it’s basically a blog post a day, every day, leading up to Christmas. This is my first year taking part in Blogmas. A blog a day for 24 days means no skiing… so I’m going to be realistic and cut it in half. I’ll use Blogmas to share 12 travel adventures to inspire you to get out and explore more.

Blogmas Travel Adventures on TimeTravelTrek
These Blogmas posts will be short snippets designed to motivate you to get out and explore more! They will include active travel adventures – from hiking to biking to paddling – in off-the-beaten path locations. There will be some of our favourite nature moments and places. Posts will highlight memorable locations in Canada, the United State, Mexico, Europe, and South America – places that we’ve loved, but I haven’t necessarily had the opportunity to blog about in the past.
Short and sweet, we’ll bop around this big, beautiful world as I take you to hidden canyons in Utah, up mountain peaks in Arizona, on a kayaking adventure in Baja, hiking into the Promised Land, exploring a prehistoric tomb on Scotland’s Orkney Islands, mountain biking in New Mexico, spending time on safari in Kenya, camping in Chile, hiking in Peru, and finding St. Nicholas in Turkey.
In total 12 posts spread out over the next 24 days with original photos included – at one of the busiest times of the year.
Wish me luck!
Travel Adventure #1: Hiking Spain’s Caminito del Rey
On the first day of Blogmas, we’re going to hike the Caminito del Rey in Spain. Once dubbed the “most dangerous path in the world” the Caminito is a narrow cliffside path hanging 100 m (330 feet) above the Guadalhorce River through the famous El Chorro gorge.
As soon as I learned about it, I knew we had to walk it.
The original path was built in 1905, improved in 1921, before falling into disrepair and becoming a walk on the wild side. Today’s path is reconstructed. It opened to the public in 2015. The route follows as close as possible to the old one – safe but fun adventure.
I’m mean, who wouldn’t want to say you walked “the most dangerous path in the world”?!
