Ahhh… Arizona adventure. It snowed the other day – yes, it was a little more than frost on the pumpkin! – and it had me thinking about camping in and exploring around Arizona. I hauled out my planner and checked the reservations we’ve made to date. We started batting around a few other ideas.
If you’re a new Snowbird or winter wanderer looking to head to warmer climes such as Arizona, you may be wondering where to begin to plan an extended trip. I’ve started creating a pool of related Arizona and RV-centric resources for my Etsy shop. I figured if these were things of value to me, they would be useful for other active travellers. And I thought what better place to share a few of my faves than here on the blog!

Arizona Adventures by RV
Our Arizona RV adventures span dozens of years of travel. I ended up writing an 89-page eBook after blogging for many years about our favourite adventures in Southern Arizona. It made sense to compile all the information into a travel itinerary that other active RVers could use as a starting point for their own adventures.
This eBook is a one-of-a-kind itinerary and guidebook that includes 9 adventure bases: Quartzsite, Kofa National Wildlife Refuge, Yuma, Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Tucson, Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge, Patagonia Lake State Park, Tombstone, and Chiricahua National Monument.
Each location includes active outdoor adventures from hiking to biking to paddling. Appendices at the back of the book include gear checklists for each type of adventure in addition to detailed camping information (note to self: check out a few more Hipcamp options and add them in the next edition!)

Arizona Guide plus Snowbird RV Trip Planner
The guide is good for figuring out where you might want to go, but having a planner to record all the details is essential. We use this planner on all our trips to record campsite reservations, keep details about phone plans, add notes about meet up dates and locations with friends, keep track of special events such as birthdays and anniversaries… the list is endless.
Having it all in one small binder makes it easy to find the information when we need it. You can buy it separately or save a few $ and buy it in combination with the Southern Arizona Itinerary and Guide listed above.
50+ Cultural Sites in Arizona
We love, love, love exploring Arizona’s cultural sites. From the Sinagua ruins near Sedona to Hohokam waffle gardens in Ironwood National Monument, there are so many places to explore the past.
This checklist of more than 50 cultural sites in Arizona started off as a place where we could tick off where we’ve been. It evolved into a full checklist for where we’ve been and where we needed to visit next. If you’re into cultural sites and human history, check it out!
Arizona Trivia
This started out as a fun idea to gift friends for Christmas. Shhh… they don’t know it quite yet!
I created 5 different games and realised it’d be a perfect bundle for like-minded trivia buffs to enjoy. It’s great for both staying at home or evenings with RV friends in camp.
The games are themed: Quest for the Curious (general Arizona trivia), Parks Pursuit (trivia about the state parks), Wild Things (Arizona plant and animal trivia), National Treasures (all about Arizona’s national parks, places, and people), and Desert Smarts (highlighting trivia on all 4 of the state’s deserts).
Each game is suitable for up to 4 players. There are 4 trivia sheets. Each sheet has 3 easy, 3 moderate, and 3 difficult trivia questions. The person with the most correct answers (each sheet has questions followed by correct answer) wins. It makes for a fun way to spend a night with fellow campers, RV buddies, or Arizona aficionados.
Arizona State Parks Bucket List Journal
Did you know that there are 33 state properties including 21 state parks (1 temporarily closed), 8 state historic parks, 3 state natural areas, and 1 state recreation area in Arizona? How many have you visited? Do you remember when? What did you enjoy, what would you do again?
If you’re having trouble remembering all of this join the club!
There are so many places we’ve been where we can’t remember when we visited or what trails we hiked or where we camped. That’s why I created this bucket list journal. Keep track of all the details and check off the ones you’ve never visited before with this unique checklist journal!
Arizona Adventure into National Parks, Monuments & More
Arizona has 3 national parks, 18 national monuments, 3 national historic trails, 2 national recreation areas, 1 national memorial – and a whopping 47 national landmarks! That’s a lot to keep track of – which is why I created this checklist for you to keep track.
We’ve hiked down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, wandered through Saguaro National Park and marvelled at the size of the fossilized trees in Petrified Forest NP, but there are dozens of national landmarks we’ve still got to check off. How about you?
Hiking, Biking & Paddling Journals
Outdoor Arizona adventure in the winter is one the main reasons we’ve fallen in love with this state. There are so many trails – whether sandy wash, paved path or waterway – to explore. It’s fun to keep track of how many days we spend hiking, biking and paddling over the course of a Snowbird winter in Arizona.
I started out creating trackers for each sport and then expanded them into full-blown journals to not only tick off days of activity but record daily trails and future wish list hikes or bikes or paddles. You can check out all 3 of these journals in the TimeTravelTrek Etsy shop by clicking on the Active Outdoors Journals category on the left hand menu.
